Some projects I've been working on
- Obviously this site:
I remember thinking about a year ago: "Man, someone should make something like a social network where you create your own site from zero with HTML and CSS. If I was a developer I'd totally do it." And lo and behold somebody did, I just hadn't heard of it yet. So as soon as I ran into the whole idea of the "Web Revival Movement", or "small web", "indie web", "personal web" and NeoCities, I decided I had to jump in.
- Learning Python for the nth time:
I've started, dropped and forgotten, and restarted Python, JavaScript, C++, web developing, bash scripting, so many times I've lost count. I like to think that each time a little bit remains, but the truth is I always forget most of it. But I don't mind, I have my day-job. I do it mostly because I like the way it tickles my brain.
- Learning hacking and cybersecurity:
Mostly going through the challenges in Over The Wire. This kind of goes into the Linux rabbit hole too. But I like the idea of maybe someday working on cybersecurity. I know, it's a tall dream, but I think it mostly depends on whether I'm able to keep it up long enough and if I do I hear it's a fertile ground for entry level jobs.
- Distro hopping:
This one is mostly done after about a month or so, you can read a full chronicle here.
Some might say I have lot of spare time, but no. lol. What I have is a full time job that's pretty easy, I can afford to ocuppy about 30% of my brain, during my shift, to do these things. It's just the attention is always divided; that may be also the reason why most projects end up getting interrupted —because I start getting interested in something else—, or everything just ends up a little half baked.
